Protein - Protein Interaction

The complex interaction of proteins within the human genome have a determining role in genetic intellectual disability. The Protein - Protein Interaction program sponsored by the Jerome Lejeune Foundation has the aim of investigating these interactions for the purpose of designing new therapeutic strategies for individuals with genetic intellectual disabilities. Hybrigenics is partnering with the Jérôme Lejeune Foundation in this program, and research teams are performing the protein screening used to identify the complex interactions among proteins.

Since the project was launched, over 40 screenings have been performed. The first results obtained were announced at an international congress and publications are being drafted. Initial data shed light on the protein interactions involved in trisomy 21, as well as in other genetic intellectual disabilities (fragile X, autism, and others).

The Protein - Protein Interaction program resides on an open source platform. Researchers interested in participating in the study are encouraged to contact the foundation to express their interest and obtain login information. One of the major objectives is to share the data generated by this program with all research teams on a global scale, to contribute to further scientific research.
