Marilyn E. Coors, PhD

Marilyn E. Coors is Associate Professor at Center for Bioethics and Humanities and the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus where she teaches, publishes and conducts research on the ethics of human genomics. Among recent publications is a book she edited entitled, An Interdisciplinary Approach to Catholic Bioethics, Ignatius Press and National Catholic Bioethics Center, in press.

Research interests pursued by Dr. Coors include informed consent for genetic testing and the use of genetic information in common complex genetic disorders with a focus on behavioral genetics and addiction. She is the Director of Research Ethics for the Colorado Clinical and Translational Science Institute and conducts research ethics consultations.

Dr. Coors is a member of the National Catholic Bioethics Center, St. John Vianney Seminary, and ENDOW Boards of trustees. She is an active community volunteer and the mother of six adult children.

She received her undergraduate education from Cornell University where she majored in biological sciences. She then attended the University of Denver, earning a M.S. in cytogenetics, a M.A. in ethics and religion, and a Ph.D. in bioethics.
