Research

Dear Friends,

Research into potential therapies to treat the intellectual deficiency and other health issues associated with trisomy 21 and other genetic intellectual disabilities is at the hear of the mission of the Jerome Lejeune Foundation. The Foundation is the world’s oldest and largest private funder of research. To date we have funded over 500 research projects across the globe with over $25 million which have been contributed by our friend and benefactors in France and other countries. We are excited to have also launched a Foundation in the U.S. We have many close friendships in America, have funded many projects there, and value the excellent work being carried out in labs on behalf of those with genetic intellectual disability.

Through our close relationships with researchers world-wide, we are convinced that together our discoveries will lead to a drug interventions that will radically improve the lives of individuals with genetic intellectual disabilities, and offer them greater autonomy and overall health throughout their lives. We will continue to update you on this website, and ask that you continue supporting this great mission of research, care, and advocacy which is the same mission that marked the life of Jerome Lejeune.

Thank you for visiting our website and for your interest in our work. Please stay in touch with us. It is your friendship and support that will ensure a brighter future for those born with Down syndrome and other genetic intellectual disabilities.
