The Jérôme Lejeune Foundation USA is registered with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. Contributions to the Foundation are fully deductible to the extent of the law. The Foundation is 100% privately funded and provides research grants in order to find therapeutic treatments for Down syndrome, or trisomy 21, but also other genetic intellectual disabilities. Dr. Jérôme Lejeune discovered the genetic cause of Down Syndrome in 1958 and committed his life to improving the lives of those with genetic intellectual disabilities. The Jerome Lejeune Foundation, founded by the Lejeune family in 1996, strives to continue the legacy of research, care, and advocacy the marked the life of Jerome Lejeune.
